We had a male swan with his mate around our lagoon and bay every year. The last 2 years after having 7 offspring, he is very aggressive attacking kayaks jet skis and boats. He puffs up his body and spreads out his huge wings in attack mode through June and July protecting his family until they ae grown. I noticed the other day that his wings look like sticks with no feathers. He was more docile and I can't imagine he could fly. Is this a natural event?
