Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: Female Cygnet (Tina)

Hi, It's getting cold here on Long Island , South Shore N.Y, I live by the great south bay, I have a swan Family and the Male cynet has his flight wings, but the female cygnet doesnt. It seems to me that somebody may be trimming her wings, She is a special cygnet but doesnt hiss like the brother of Momma and poppa, I have reached out to the DEC, as well as a few rehabbers in my area, all have the same thing to say some just worse, Just Leave It. I am presently waiting for the rehabber test to come about. But for now she and her momma are sitting on my front lawn, I know we are going to have a cold winter and I cannot just sit back and leave her to die, I am afraid that the family may soon flt to there flock. I am not sure, I see the love they have for each other. Do you think they will migrate and leave her behind?
