In Response To: Father swan is chasing son who does not fly away (Jon & Kate)

Hello,

We live on a pond and our association has two mute swans that also live here (male and female).

Two years ago they had 5 cygnets and one male survived. Last year when he was one year old his parents had another round of cygnets (none survived) but he always swam around with the group. This year he is two. The parents are now starting to build their nest again but this year the father is chasing the now two year old son away. He doesn't seem to want to fly away on his own. Is he okay? Will he eventually fly away? Could his father end up hurting him? Thankyou
