The best scenario for this swan is to get it to a wildlife/waterfowl rehabilitation center to see if there is something wrong with it. Bread is not going to keep the swan alive as it serves no nutrient value. It must have cracked corn and poultry layer pellets and lettuce.

If there is something wrong and it won't eat other items, it may need a B12 shot to increase its appetite, one dosage only. A waterfowl veterinarian will know how to give the inoculation.

If you can get the swan to eat, it still must have a place to bathe and preen. Staying too long out of the water, unless it is completely soaked with water daily and allowed to preen and dry itself, will cause the preen gland not to work properly and if the swan is returned to a large pond or lake, it can drown because it's feathers are not water repellent.

Black swans are southern hemisphere swans so they do not do very well in extremely cold weather. Do you know how long it was left on its own or exposed to the cold?
