Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: Re: Alienation (Lisa)

We are unsure how to tell the sex. One of the adult swans always led the family and the other always brought up the rear. The one that led the family still remains. We believe the cause of death was illness. There were no obvious injuries to the swan when it was pulled from the lake.

All of the swans are participating in the shunning including the remaining parent. It is actually the remaining parent that is the most aggressive. They will not allow this cygnet eat all when we feed them crackers. They are very aggressive toward it.

Why does the DNR want the swan population wiped out?
