Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: swan families (Angie)

Hi, I have lived on a lake for 20 years. I have seen many, many swans and there babies grow up. This year however, I have noticed the female swan and her babies swimming by themselves and the male swan swimming up the shore line about 1/4 of a mile away. Never ever have I seen the parents not together with there young. Why is the male swan not with her? It was just not a one time thing. She is alone whenever I see her and the babies and he is off doing his own thing. Could something be wrong with him?

Thank You!!
Angie
