Hi Dionne:

The cygnets begin to turn white approximately 6 months of age. They will be totally white approximately 8-10 months of age. So, you have basically an adult female and an older juvenile.

Swans are usually considered juvenile up until 2-3 years of age. Although some research suggests that a swan reaches adulthood at 3 years of age because this is supposed to be the time that they are capable of mating, we know differently. We have had swans practicing mating at 1 year of age and totally capable of producing cygnets at 2 years of age. So, 2 years of age can possibly be the beginning of adulthood in some swans. These are probably the same swans that you had and did not run off any other swans. The Regal Swan
