Hello, we live on a large retention pond in South Carolina. For at least 3 weeks now we have had an immature ? Swan. It is big, but still has some grayish brown on him. We have watched him try to fly by racing across the water but is unable. Yesterday a mature swan came by and hung around with it for several hours. But then took off after a bit of squawking at each other. Again the young one tried to fly flapping it's wings as it crossed the pond. I have called a few agencies and they tell me there is nothing they can do, unless I feel it's injured and then I could take it to a local vet who deals with wildlife to euthanize it. A neighbor tells me she thinks someone may have shot at it, but it looks fine. Where can I turn to help this guy? He's breaking my heart.
