Hi Sandra: If the cygnet cannot get out of the water to dry itself or keep warm it is doomed. Waterfowl, specifically swans cannot survive without being able to exit or enter the water especially in the wild. With constant care, a zero entrance pool so the swan can butt scoot in and out of the water and is protected from inclement weather and predators, it may survive in a controlled captive setting. If you want to try and save the cygnet, we would suggest you try and get it to a waterfowl or wildlife rehab center. There is also the possibility the cygnet could die from sepsis, infection from the bite if it is not provided immediate care and antibiotics. Even then, there are no guarantees. The cygnet needs quick an immediate care to survive. Good luck and let us know how this progresses. The Regal Swan
