Update: By afternoon the other 5 siblings were on the shore, and our Bad Boy was patroling the shoreline like the National Guard. His neck was looped so that his chin rested on his neck, and his wings were puffed up. He moved in the water by surging forward in a very authoratative way.

We spent more than an hour trying to catch him, with one of us chasing him up and down the lake in the canoe, and the other chasing him when he came out of the water, which he did several times. (We took turns in the canoe.) He's a surprisingly big boy - almost 5 feet tall when he runs on land. The chase finally ended when he ran out of the lake and into the group of 5 swans on shore. They panicked and scattered into the lake. Our boy was too tired to chase them, and simply blended in. It was just like old times.

I now think that PS is simply acting like a territorial two year old, and that the food only looked like the problem because it is only accessable from IN the lake.

I still have to deal with this, because tomorrow is another day.

Caroline

P.S. Here is a photo that I took of him today relaxing and acting sweet.
