Re: Black Swans have made another nest and cygnet from first nest is left on his own

Hi Richard:

Unfortunately, this whole scenario seems to be the norm this year instead of the exception. We are hearing about this behavior throughout the world. It may be that the winters were colder for longer periods of time, or shorter, but something has messed up the nesting behavior this year. Many swans are abandoning their young from their first nests and beginning a new nest. If you can watch out for the cygnet so that a predator does not get him (i.e., turtles, hawks, foxes, etc.), he should get big enough to fend for himself. The Regal Swan
