Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: Re: Cold new england, frozen pond (Georgina)

Thank you for your response. The swan sits right on the ice or on the edge so there is plenty of clearance to fly up away from a predator. Just not sure if she can sleep having to take watch all the time. Not sure if she would go into the shed although there is one right near her. She tends to hiss when we get close enough to put food out and fear she would be scared and get aggressive? Do swans normally migrate more south? My biggest concern is this cold and wet weather. Not sure if these tempatures are too cold for the swan to survive? Thank you.
