I bought a male and female mute swans 7 weeks ago outside of West Chester Pa. My intentions were that the swans would rid my pond of the geese. I kept them in a cage until the end of July when I released them to my pond. Within a few days both were injured by what I believe was a snapping turtle. They are both at the vets now. She seems to think they will be alright. Now I have to revisit my decision to get them in the first place. Although they are lovable creatures, they are a big responsibilty and you have to be prepare for that, which I wasn't and I don't feel that I will be able to going forward. I would love to find someone who would want them and has the ability to care for them. If so please contact me.
