Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: Re: Staying too long on the nest. (The Regal Swan)

Hi Betty:

Swans sit on the eggs for the duration of incubation, i.e., 30-40 days with some rest periods to bathe and feed. This means that the male will sit nearby and depending on the species, may actually sit on the eggs while the female takes her short rest. Otherwise, the female does most of the incubation.
