In Response To: Re: what and how to feed wild swan (The Regal Swan)

Hi Sherri:

Mix 1/2 ratio of cracked corn with 1/2 ratio of poultry layer pellets. Drop the mixture about 3 feet into the water near the bank. Do not put it on the bank as you will attract pests like ants, raccoons, etc. Give the swan lettuce and a little bread will not hurt because it only acts as a filler. However, you do not want to overfeed him bread or use stale bread. We us one hot dog bun a day. Too much bread can alter his blood sugar.

He may not like the new restricted diet, but the cracked corn will act as a filler and is more nutritional for him. The poultry layer pellets are the nutrient laden part of the diet as this provides all of his minerals, vitamins and other necessary food source. Good luck. The Regal Swan
