It is the Rt. leg. We believe the injury to the wing was from dragging it when trying to walk after the leg got hurt/swollen. the leg maintains a normal position. We have, and the Vet has checked the leg and foot for injury. No oozing has occured. The Vet pulled fluid out and it was clear--no puss. For the past week he has been walking fairly well, and swimming and eating.I really thought he was on the road to recovery. Then yesterday he started falling down again, and today he cannot walk at all. He enjoys being in the water, but when I take him out he just sits. The leg and foot is very, very hot. Isn't there some medication that I can get for him? I cannot afford to go back to the Vet. It was $800. the last time, and she
could not figure out what the problem was, except to treat the infection. The infected wing seems to be okay now, but his foot and leg are just as swollen as it was three weeks ago, maybe more. He is in a 3/4 acre private pond with surrounding banks mowed and trimmed, no trash or underbrush. There is a 4 foot fence with electric wire around the top. I am sure he has not been attacked. The only thing that might get to him would be a turtle or a snake, and the Vet could find no sign of either . Please help me quickly, as I know he is going down hill again and must be in pain. We raise Peafowl and I have Terramycin(oxytetracycline HCI) on hand as an antibiotic for them. I used that in my swan's drinking water for 9 days while I was keeping him in my garage and am wondering if it may have been helping. I quit giving it 7 days ago. I also have Tylan which I use for my peafowl as an antibiotic. Please help!!
Thank you,
Betty
