What can i feed a swan.

For 3 weeks now we´ve been having this young swan (but feathers are already white) at the small lake (say 75x50 meters wide) infront of our house. My daughter is so fond of the swan that she would give whole grain bread to it everyday. Funny thing, the swan even knows where we live so it would knock on our door in the morning or whenever it is hungry for bread. I also tried giving leafy vegetables but the swan won´t eat it. It would only wait for the whole grain bread. My question is, is the bread harmful for the swan´s diet as we give at least 1 to 1 1/2 loaves of bread per day? Sometimes it would ask for more. Also, do you think we should call for animal help for the swan to be taken away to where it can be with other swans or is it fine to just let it stay in our lake. My daughter loves it so much that she would say it´s her pet. Everytime she would come home from school and the swan would see our car, it would immediately come to my daughter and make some squeeking sounds as if it´s so happy to see us and would like to have some bread.

We would love to have the swan stay with us but it also worries us if the swan is ok like this. Hope to hear your advice.

Sincerely,
Leah
