I have built a small water feature in the barn, my two swans like to sleep in it at night. They have been pulling at grasses for the last two years and acting like building a nest. But they seem to be doing it more for practice than actually wanting to build one. I tried laying hay on the floor it did not help. For some reason the female grazes separate from the male. May be she resents his bossy attitude. The barn is very safe, its window is covered with double wire fence. During day time they graze in our backyard which is under constant watch as we also have chickens. We put them in the barn at night, we would continue to do so after they have their babies.
