Hello. My pair of mute swans have had their cygnets and often sun themselves on my grass in my garden. However, this week, my cobb swan has taken to stripping several of my long grasses, peonies, crocosmia etc of their long, juicy leaves. He pulls them off which ever plant he fancies and leaves them on my grass to die; he doesn't eat them, doesn't offer them to the cygnets, they're just left. My immediate thoughts were that he was pulling them for a nest, but he's either very early or very late! I wonder if you have any thoughts on this? Many thanks. Pippa, Surrey, UK.
