I have a pair of mute swans who are 4 years old. I'm thinking it's way too late in the season for the female to lay eggs, but they've recently made a beautiful nest. The female sits on the nest quite frequently, but when she is off, there are definitely no eggs. Someone told me she "looks" like she's pregnant and has eggs. I honestly don't see a difference in her. Could this be possible? Can you tell when a swan is pregnant by her appearance? Also, is there still time for her to lay eggs?
