In Response To: Cygnets disappear: How to protect them from predators (Jill)

We are on salt water inlet; in the past few years, the cygnets disappeared. Lat spring, there were seven healthy babies, then they would return in the morning with two fewer, until they were none. I am narrowing down the predator to snapping turtles, crows, fox, raccoon, in order of probability. The nest must be on the other side of the pond/inlet, and not visible to us, however they come over just about everyday. The male swan lets me near him; the female less so. Any ideas how to save the cygnets this year? The parent pair are getting old and probably will be having fewer healthy cygnets in the future, so we would like to give the cygnets the best chance of survival.

Thank you for your thoughts on providing some safety for this wonderful pair of swans and their offspring.
