In Response To: Swan & goose friendship! (Gay)

The lake in our local park has a population of swans and also a flock of geese. One of the swans recently lost its mate and has "paired" up with one of the geese. They are always to be seen together. Obviously they are not an actual pair, but is this "friendship" between two completely different species unusual?
