Pair of Mute swans. Old female died (12 yrs) and now new female (2 yrs) mated with old male swan. 5 baby swans hatched, & 5 days later found female dead on nest. Swans kept in pen so no case of predator. Female did eat shells of baby swans. Any possible reason for death of female?
