Odd behavior question - swan pecking at cars
Hi- I live in beach resort in NY and we have a town pond with a pair of nesting swans. I went there yesterday to take some pictures and the male was acting rather strange. He would go up to the passenger side of the car and peck and bite at the car door and side mirrors. The cars were no where near the nest, and he was letting other birds get close to him without hissing. I got within 5 feet of him to feed him, he didnt hiss at me either, but also wasn't interested in the food. When that car left, he just went to the one behind it (mine) and did the same pecking & biting for about 45 minutes. He even tried to bite my bumper as I pulled away. I've never seen them like this. It's like he was annoyed, but not mad. Any ideas? Again, we were at least a block away from the nest.
Thanks- Wendy
