Male Lost 2nd Mate and Now Really Dislikes New Female

Hi I had 2 swans both about 6 years old that I got from 2 different people that the other had lost it's mate. They paired right up and had 2 seasons of successful cygnets!

Juliet the female died about 3 weeks ago. I found another female that is 1.5 years old and put her on the pond and Don the Swan male just hates her. He chased her all over so we seperated them immediatly.

We have put them both in a fenced area with a divider. Don would spend all day everyday trying and sometimes successfully grabbing onto her and pulling out feathers.. I put up another divider so he cannot reach but he still paces back and forth all day looking for an chance to grab her. (there is no chance he can get to her now)

( She always swims right next to the fence, instead of the other 100 feet she could be at)

Do you think he will like her later? Should we try to put them together and maybe he will get over it? Maybe wait til spring breeding season? This will be his 3rd wife so he has remated after a loss.... He does have his 2 babies but they spend almost all day doing other things than hanging out with him. So i do not think he is protecting his babies.

Sorry for the length!! Thank you for any help Shelly
