Hi Jane:

The animals that live in and around the habitats that Mute Swans reside depend on the temperate zone. For instance, if the Mute Swans live in Florida, they can live in a habitat that has wetland birds such as ibis, egrets, herons, coots, moorhens, limpkins, etc. Birds of prey that live in this habitat include owls, hawks, eagles and osprey. Even though the habitats may be manmade, predators that may have access to the woodline and pond areas include alligators, raccoons, bobcats, foxes, deer panther, bear, coyote, skunks, otters, opossum and armadillo.

If the Mute Swans live in the northern states, they could live in areas with many of the above dry land predators as well as other animals such as elk, beaver and moose.

Most all of the above listed animals can live in various habitats, but predators such as alligators may be relegated to the southeastern states. In England, the swans live among foxes and mink which can kill the swans and their young. Good Question. We hope this helps. The Regal Swan
