In Response To: Re: Returning swan without a partner (Ari)

No, Regal Swan.
Unfortunately, it is for sure, but there is no other swan's presence around him/her. I still think that it's a female and not the male. Though, since there is no other swan to compare the sizes of both, this one looks considerably smaller vs.( her/his) partner from the last 12 seasons. As well as, this one eats very little vs. the swan-male I knew when they were together. That male was spending lengthy time while himself and his cygnets were getting full till the last crumb. Female/mother were biting off just few crumbs and then, she usually was swimming little off while watching from the distance everyone to finish their meal. But who knows, it's hard for me to conclude either it's a male or female. Another thing I've noticed is that a previous male was fearless of Canadian geese we have too many on this lake, therefore, he tried to get them off and from being close to his family. This swan now, actually, acts as he's either being irritated by these geese around when they try getting food I feed to her/him and that's why he/she leaves shortly after they get closer. Or, this swan is seriously alerted/scared of them for some reason, because, I have witnessed last week that some very loud and aggressive Canadian goose has managed to hiss at (this/my) swan and did exactly what usually swans do to ducks and geese: an attempt to chase them away. And yes,my swan just stepped off and left. But I am on the lake daily and couple times a day since they were gone in January and until this one came back the end of March. Totally alone then and now. So sad.
