In Response To: Young swan seemed to be crying for its family (Mackenzie)

I have been watching a family of swans grow up this summer/fall. Normally at night while walking my dogs by the pond the two parents and three babies greet us. Tonight we heard a crying quacking noise coming from the pond. When we got there the only grey one was all by itself making a very loud sad noise (seemed to be crying for its family). It came over to us and stop for about 2 mins then it swan off crying loudly again. Do you think it will make it through the winter? Do you think its parents will come back? Is there anything that can be done?
