Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: Re: Egg questions (The Regal Swan)

Hi Eve:

If the swans are two females, they will lay eggs and nest. Obviously, the eggs will be infertile. Leave the eggs and let nature take its course. The swans will abandon the eggs if they are not fertile or if something is wrong with them. The swans will sit until they get their nesting out of their system and you need to let them complete this process.

We have written a book, Swans of the World Habitat: Setting the Standard for Swan Conservation that has a link on this page. The book is written for swan and swan habitat owners and provides information regarding each of the swan species, their individual and species attributes, habitat requirements, food and daily maintenance care, mating and nesting behavior as well as other materials which will help you understand and care more easily for your swans. We hope this information is of benefit. The Regal Swan
