We have a lone swan in our Anchorage Lake here in Louisville, KY. A neighbor told me that its mate was killed by snapping turtle. The swan just weathered a brutal arctic winter here with a near frozen over lake--it's a survivor, and I haven't a clue how a snapping turtle could have killed its mate; must have been a freak incident. Anyway, we're all worried about the swan being alone. Am I worrying needlessly? Will the swan migrate in search of other groups if necessary? It seems to enjoy this like.
