Hi Deanna:

You will need to check with your local Fish & Game Commission. In most states, mute swans are deemed a feral exotic species and you have to have a license to possess, breed and maintain. If the eggs turn out to be a tundra or trumpeter swan, some states and federal law protect them as a migratory bird, making it illegal to possess eggs or birds.

Hatching swan eggs takes a specific temperature in an incubator. Too hot a temperature can cause the swan eggs to explode causing a huge mess and an awful smell to clean-up. Our best advice is to leave the eggs alone, especially if they were found in the wild.

Cygnets should be fed poultry layer mash until they are big enough to digest the poultry layer pellets and cracked corn. The food should be covered in water so that the mash is just that, mushy mash. Small bits of lettuce can also be given to them. The Regal Swan
