In Response To: Re: Female swan unable to stand, no appetite (The Regal Swan)

Hi Cassie

Try giving her some wet bread. If she starts to eat the bread, add a bunch of wet bread on top of water in a bowl. Add cracked corn and poultry layer pellets in the bottom of the water. If she begins to eat this, add finely chopped lettuce. Lettuce is an aquired taste for some birds, so you may have to try romaine lettuce.

Try backing down on amount of food and number of tube feedings to see if she will eat on her own. Some times swans will not eat due to stress from the tube feedings or not being hungry. Once she starts eating on her own, tube feed only once and let her begin eating on her own and then remove all tube feedings.
