Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: High levels of blue -green algae (jack)

Hi

Just want to say I love your website (following for ages) & haven't seen anything else like it on the web!

I've been keeping an eye on the only swan family on a London lake for 4 months. High levels of blue-green algae have just been found. There is no wildlife ranger & the local authorities don't actively protect wildlife. I emailed a local caring facility for swans about another issue & they weren't interested.

The swan family are pretty wild & very large. I think they would be v. hard to catch in order to house.

Your advice would be very much appreciated as they're the only family to have raised a cygnet (4 months) successfully.

Many thanks.
