Old swan eggs in the nest

Hi, wondering if you could assist. We have 2 Mute swans on our stream in Lincoln (New Zealand). They are long term residents. They have been unsuccessful in the last 2 years breeding, once their eggs were washed away and this year their 12 eggs didn't hatch.
Their eggs are still in their nest (since September)with a couple in the water beside the nest. Should I remove these old eggs, or will the swans automatically kick them out of the nest when the next eggs arrive?

Many thanks for your time.
