In Response To: When a Whooper female dies will male accept another mate? (carolyn)

I bought a pair of three year old mated Whooper swans. The female was killed a few months ago by a stray dog. this happened riight after egg laying season. At first my male was very aggressive and would challenge anyone around my pond but now he is quiet and subdued, spending long periods in his hut. Could he be depressed. Would he accept another mate? How should I proceed in order to help him? Thanks. Carolyn
