Hi Bonnie
The male will do just fine on his own. The major issue is whether the male will care for the young and not act aggressively toward the cygnets or abandon them. If aggression or abandonment occurs, the cygnets will need to be captured and taken to a waterfowl or wildlife rehabilitation center to be raised.
Do you know how the female died? Was it predation? If, so then the remaining swans may be in danger. Was it old age? Was it due to an illness or disease. Again, an illness or disease could place the remaining swans in danger just as having a predator in the habitat. The Regal Swan
