Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: Winter food (Freada)

Hello again,

I was wondering if you could tell me if in winter, the swans cut down and don't eat as much as they do in the warmer months. I have noticed that mine are not eating as much as they did in the warmer months. I supplement their pellets and cracked corn with fresh chopped baby spinish and lettuce but they are just not eating as much grain. I am just concerned that they will have the fuel to continue to keep warm. I realize that we live in south Mississippi, but it has been an extremely cold here earlier than it usually is.

To update you on the swan in the sewer lagoon, he is still there. I have yet to catch him.

Again, thanks so much for answering my millions of questions.

Merry Christmas!
