Hi. We are so sorry for your loss. Did you have a necropsy done? This is extremely important to insure that the other swan or a new swan dies not die from the same result. Otherwise you could be spending money and endangering future swans. Also there may be a possibility that your remaining swan may not accept a new swan. You should have both swans sexed to ensure gender. The new swan will need to be placed into a chain fenced pen 1/2 in water and 1/2 on land covered on top and bottom with fencing to protect from predators with a feeder inside. The new swan will need to be in the pen for 2 weeks to get acclimated to the habitat and the other swan. Any sign of aggression by either swan could result in severe injury and even death. Continued aggression shoul be watched closely while in the pen or during release from the pen for several days.If aggression continues it means the swans are not accepting each other and the new swan will need a new home. Additionally some states require permits for ownership of swans and pairs that can breed may require a breeding permit.
