The swans did go back to the original pond but only stayed for maybe two weeks and came back (food supply is my guess) to ours for a second time. We are OK with them, we just are mindful of them and proceed accordingly. There is a section of my land that is fenced in but comes to with in about 40-50 feet of the water, I am using that as my point of introduction (I can talk to them and feed them but they can not exert their territory beyond the fence). The lettuce was meet with lack of interest and has sat for two days now. The cracked cord and seed mix is well liked however. The larger one will still "keep me at bay" while the slightly smaller one eats. Putting them in a barn or other confinement is really not an option here. How well does a taut smooth strand of moderate wire about 12" high do as a barrier to help keep them contained? And I will guess the reason we have Geese nesting in new places is due to the competition from the swans for nesting spots....
