My landlord has a mated pair of mute swans that were at least civil when I moved onto the large property in October. They allowed me and my Westie to walk around their pond, and around the 8 acres. In December of 2011, the male suddenly became agressive and ran after me, my dog and my 5 year old grandson. He also cornered the woman who has been feeding them for all of their lives. I can stay away from the pond and their food dish but the male has started to come in front of my house and not allowing me to leave or enter. I was warned about them being protective in the spring nesting season but this is still mid winter. What can I do to protect myself and also make them want to leave me alone. thank you for your help.
