Hi, thankyou for your quick response. I'm still guilt ridden thinking that this possibly wouldn't of happened had i of been more quick-thinking and not fed the swans where they appeared. I did try to entice them back to their territory when i went back to them later...but by then they'd already had a belly-full of bread so weren't interested. I always climb down the bank to feed them, but if they're not there when i go past, i always come back after i've fed the others...unfortunately that day, they found me first. Having not long been living in the country from a town environment....i'm still learning....obviously the hard way! On a lighter note, i did manage to get a picture of the parents and their 2 young (now one unfortunately), which i will attach. Thankyou again.
