In Response To: Re: Mute Swan Hunting in NJ (The Regal Swan)

Hi Maya

It is illegal to hunt them, but the NJ DNR regularly kills them under the guise of an invasive species and for health monitoring. Both of these practices is to receive federal funding to follow the federal misrepresentation of the swans as being detrimental to the habitat so taxpayers will go along with the killing program.

However, the taxpayers are paying for the killing program which has an ulterior motive of removing all Mute Swans so that the larger Trumpeter Swans can replace them for Trophy Waterfowl hunting purposes. Again, the taxpayers is also funding this program to maintain and increase DNR and other wildlife budgets. The NJ DNR and federal wildlife agencies have no research justifying this killing. It is all about the money for wildlife entities. The fact is that there has never been an environmental impact assessment or a systemic collaborative count of Mute Swans in the US. However, this misrepresentation about research by wildlife officials is perpetuated throughout the US with with the full knowledge that research has never been conducted. We hope this info is of benefit. The Regal Swan
