My husband, son and I live in a condo complex that, spring through fall, is also home to two mute swans and however many cygnets are hatched that year. The swans are not native, but are brought in by the complex managers as aesthetic additions to the property. While the swans are lovely to look at, they tend to occasionally occupy OUR outdoor space and nobody else's. This has been no more than an inconvenience in seasons past, but now that our son is 1 year old, we'd like to be able to safely spend the warmer seasons outdoors. To be clear, our patio and outdoor space is NOT where they nest, just where they occasionally like to sit, preen, nap and/or tap on our patio doors. What can we do to, safely, define our patio and outdoor space as OUR territory to the swans? In the past, the swans have become aggressive against my husband and I just because we're sitting on our patio. It is VERY important to us that our son safely can play outside in the area that we pay for. Thank you for your help.
