Hello
I live on a lake in NJ
This year we have a new pair of swan that had 4 cignets.
They are now the size of a duck, but still have only down...no feathers, and cannot fly. The whole family disappeared a couple days ago an were found at a nearby lake. It is quite a distance for a swan to walk....either down a pavement road and up a steep hill or through woods and uphill on pavement. Would it be possible that the family walked this?? I dont find this to be very likely...lots of predators around too. Could they fly with a large baby on their back??? Trying to make sense of this. They are quite slow and clumbsy out of the water. Any clues??
Thanks!!
