Ask the Swan Specialist

We have one swan on our pond (wing clipped). Sometimes when I am at the bank of the pond, the swan will swim to the edge of the pond, slightly lift her wings, and make a throaty gurgle noise. Is she happy or upset?

PS We hope to find her a friend this Spring.
