Yes, if something is wrong with an egg, the parents will kick it out of the nest and even push it out into the water (if water is nearby, so the rotten egg does not attract pests or predators.

On another note, we would be very cautious about using any type of predator or other animal urine near the nest. Animal urine carries pheromones (odor filled chemicals) that may dissuade smaller animals from an area so as not to encounter a larger predator.

However, animal urine also carries hormonal odors which tell animals of the same species if the urine came from an animal of the opposite gender and may even have levels of mating hormones. These hormones can actually attract animals of the same species, in your case, wolves to the nest. The Regal Swan
