Hi Elaine:
Keep an eye out for the family including cygnets. Mom will not leave them alone in the nest because predators can attack the young swans. More than likely, the cygnets are either close to the bank so that they can swim and dive under aquatic vegetation or they are on mom’s back. If the cygnets are too young, get tired or just cannot keep up with the parents, mom will allow the little ones to crawl onto her back, nestle under her wings and take a nap while she goes about the daily routine of swimming and eating.
