In Response To: Re: Mute Swan Bubbler Question: Keeping the swan safe from the foxes (Elizabeth)

I hope he will be ok Lynne. I remember your post from last month. We sadly lost out last swan 3 weeks ago due to freak accident in the shed. She was doing awesome being in the pen and then I took her inside to the bathroom for a few nights to help with her soakings. She loved the time in and we talked while she ate tons of food in the tub. I placed her in the pen like our routine had been, left for a few hours..and my neighbor went to feed her and check on her. She had somehow got her neck stuck and broke it. I will forever miss her, she was my favorite swan and I don't know if I can ever find another who loved me back like she did. I feel guilty, but there was no way she could have survived out on the lake without putting her in. Now, I am consumed with researching on how to best protect future swans with the right enclosures, etc. I am not sure if Regal Swan would suggest we place swans on our 23acre lake. I feel like it's a death trap in winter and we have so many turtles. Not sure what to do. I can't imagine life without caring for swans.
