Actually through a review of fossils found in North America, specifically the U.S., the Mute Swan ancestors began here. So, these findings show that the Mute Swans were here long before the US Wildlife Services' arbitrary and capricious benchmark for killing any species not found before the 1800's.

By this same capriciousness, US and state wildlife entities have and continue to introduce actual non native invasive species such as Chukar Partridges, Asian Pheasants and European Brown Trout for hunting and fishing purposes (at taxpayer expense).

These species through scientific research (unlike no scientific research regarding Mute Swans), have been shown to displace native wildlife (such as the native endangered Prairie Chicken) and introduce parasites and pathogens into the native environment. Yet, these same wildlife officials ignore these facts for the "almighty dollar" procured for their budgets. You can't have it both ways.
