swans on drying pond

Thank you so much for this board!
We have a pond behind our house and have had a pair of nesting swans every year for several years. They nested this year had and lost two signets due to weather. Typically they leave shortly after all signets are lost or grown - practicing flight across the pond for weeks before they can fly. This year we have a severe drought and the pond that is only a few feet deep normally, is nearly dried up, choked with weeds. They are not able to sail accross to get velocity or practice flying. Is there any action I should take to move them? Will they become sick or die if the water continues to become more mucky or dries up entirely?
Thanks for any information.
